Coming to America – Tuesdays, 7:00PM
Fall Quarter (10 weeks): October 6 – December 15, 2026
(no class November 24)
From the first arrivals to the Americas in the 16th century to the great migration in the 19th, immigrants arrived on our shores in the millions, driven by economic opportunity, crop failures, and political/religious persecution. Each week we will cover the different groups: why they came, where they went, how they fared. The Fall quarter will examine the history of the explorers of North and South America and their encounters with the native populations.
(Syllabus in progress.)
