What’s up with Iran and why is USA so interested in that one country?

To many in the West, Iran remains one of the most misunderstood nations on the world stage — defiant, complex, and frequently misread. This lecture cuts through the noise to examine Iran’s deep historical roots, its strategic logic, and the forces shaping its future. By looking at its rivalries with its regional neighbors and its fraught relationship with the United States, we will build a clear framework for understanding the events unfolding across one of the world’s most consequential regions, and offer a grounded perspective on where things are headed.

Naeem Zafar is a Dean’s Teaching Fellow and a member of the faculty at the University of California Berkeley, and Professor of the Practice at Brown University. He teaches courses in Entrepreneurship, Technology Strategy, Innovation and New Venture Finance at Brown and Berkeley.  Naeem is the co-founder and CEO of TeleSense, and has authored five books on entrepreneurship.
